Download PDFWhat do you need?

0.9% saline solution bag, 1 liter

Plastic bag for priming solution, 2 liter

DIN-Luer bloodlines, 2 pcs

Heparin, 10 000 IU

Clamps, 4 pcs
Assemble the extracorporeal circuit of the CPB machine according to its user manual

Add 10,000 IU of heparin to 0.9% saline solution and mix it

Connect the DIN-Luer bloodline 1 to the priming solution bag. Fill the bloodline with the priming solution using gravity. Attach a clamp.

Mount the Efferon® device (hereinafter "the device") vertically in the holder.*

Remove the cap from the bottom (arterial) port of the device and connect the pre-filled DIN-Luer bloodline 2 to it.
For convenience, the device may be inverted so that the arterial port is oriented upward. Once connected, return the device to its original position with the upper (venous) port facing upward.

Remove the cap from the upper port of the device and connect the DIN-Luer bloodline 2 to it.

Connect the plastic bag for rinsing solution to the DIN-Luer bloodline 2.

Remove the clamp from DIN-Luer bloodline 1 and rinse the device using gravity.

Put the clamps to both DIN-Luer bloodlines 1 and 2 after the priming is finished.

Disconnect DIN-Luer bloodline 1 from the priming solution bag and connect the bloodline 1 to the oxygenator.

Connect the DIN-Luer bloodline 2 to the cardiotomy reservoir connector of the CPB machine.

Once the procedure has started, remove the clamps from the DIN-Luer bloodlines 1 and 2.

* Note: The fluid flow direction through the Efferon® device must be from bottom to top both during priming and treatment.
